The Exhibition
The actual gift: big image, sparse text, objects, dates and atmosphere. Nothing else is required.

This is where the overbuilding lives: research, visual experiments, odd little object studies and the thinking behind the tribute. It is here to browse, not to approve.
Nothing in this room needs a next step.

The exhibition already stands on its own. This page simply keeps the research and creative rabbit holes somewhere visible for anyone who enjoys seeing how the sausage was made.
The actual gift: big image, sparse text, objects, dates and atmosphere. Nothing else is required.
Evidence states, provenance and the careful separation between known history, local lore and invention.
Wrong turns, surviving phrases, object experiments and the bits that became much more elaborate than anybody requested.
The project did not begin by inventing a brand. It began by looking hard enough at something that had already survived thirty years to notice the visual language hiding inside it.
The monkey was already there
The archive does not become weaker when it says ‘needs confirming’. That is the discipline that gives the stranger parts permission to breathe.
Use the current exhibition source model for exact citations and public evidence.
The anniversary language is established in the exhibition; exact opening-day precision remains a primary-source question.
Keep Archie / Ziggie / replacement language separate unless better primary material ever settles the chain.
Treat it as local/customer language unless a formal source establishes otherwise.
It is deliberately fictional visual theatre. Never imply government endorsement or historical existence.
Look at him properly
The useful question is not how much detail can be added. It is which cues survive when detail is stripped away.
01 · ears02 · grin03 · knot04 · tray05 · checkThe structural anchor. It needs to survive at tiny scale and from across a road.
A small ceremonial flash. More punctuation than wallpaper.
The second axis and the visual verb: Ziggy offers.
Close-range confirmation. The pattern becomes more valuable when it is rationed.
Place as provenance. It says where before it says brand.
A fortune, ticket, card, caption or decision arrives on the tray.
How much monkey?
Full Zig is theatre. Mild Zig is host. Sugar-Free Zig is learned visual memory. They are three settings of the same experiment, not three things anybody has to choose.

Big grin, full body, complete visual theatre. Best suited to exhibition moments, posters and character-led experiments.
The symbol earns recognition through repetition. The app makes that learning visible rather than pretending the mark is already famous.
Frankston is not the backdrop
The calendar and campaign experiments begin with a recognisable Frankston mood, then play with how much Ziggy belongs in it.
Objects in circulation
These are sketches for how the same visual joke might survive on useful objects. They are not products waiting for approval, manufacture or sale.
A hanging silhouette experiment: desirable without explanation and increasingly identifiable once the visual code has been learned.
Move the distance control. This is just a visual test of what detail survives as the object gets farther away.
Old Vic State
The joke works because the paperwork behaves as if a ceramic monkey has always had his own impossibly dignified civic department. It is theatre, not a proposed institution.
Office of Service, Style & Civic Peculiarity
Issued for the proper recording of local objects which have remained stationary long enough to become folklore.
Built from the tray, bow, ears, check and Z rather than real government insignia.
Fine rules, archive numbers, warm stock, sparse metallic detail.
Perfect procedural dignity applied to a ridiculous monkey.
A tiny archival note preserves the joke and the truth at the same time.
The conversation archive
This is a curated project spine, not a transcript dump and definitely not required reading. Search the turns only if watching an idea mutate is your kind of entertainment.
The thirty-year shop story becomes a serious Frankston exhibition and Ziggy starts behaving like an oracle rather than a decoration.
Copy is tightened so Rob and Carla are never implied to have been interviewed or to have supplied records before they actually do.
Public research is separated from owner-only knowledge so Rob and Carla never get handed a homework assignment.
Dead-serious archival discipline stays on the surface; strange local symbolism moves underneath it.
It stops being a prop. Ziggy offers: a fortune, a card, a ticket, a caption, a decision.
Place becomes provenance. The strongest visual language is geographic before it is corporate.
One visual system gains three strengths: character, host and learned visual DNA.
The calendar idea changes when the month begins with a Frankston mood, then decides how much Ziggy to add.
The air freshener becomes a recognition experiment: silhouette at distance, ear/knot/tray at mid-range, provenance up close.
The project crystallises around one test: how little Ziggy can remain before Ziggy disappears?
Optional reactions
This is not an approval board. Tap a line only if it is amusing or useful to mark a reaction. Ignore the whole section and absolutely nothing is missing.
No account. No obligation. No project-management theatre. Silence is also a complete response.
The minimum Ziggy
If the mark below already feels like him after wandering through this room, the experiment has started to work. That is all it needs to do.
